MVRHS Makes NH Maple Syrup

MVRHS Makes NH Maple Syrup
Syrup SchoolMVRHS Environmental Science class won the Maple Equipment grant through the NH Agriculture In The Classroom organization.  Students tapped their first trees in the beginning of March and the sap was flowing at Mascoma!

Weeks later students boiled down about 25 gallons of sap which they collected from the local trees. Several students and staff offered their help and expertise.  Like any good sugaring event there were baked goods (cinnamon rolls), music, and smores outside.  Syrup was finished in the Food and Nutrition room on the stove.  Thank you to Logan Baravalle for bringing in the evaporator, Trees to Dreams for donating the firewood, and to everyone who helped both outside and in!
