We spent the day today kayaking to a beautiful cove for snorkeling, and all the while kayaking to our destination, sea lions frolicked in front of us, behind us, and underneath us to give us a show of playfulness and entertainment. While snorkeling some students dove deeper to see more closely colorful tropical fish and others took photos and video of their experience closer to the surface. Afterwards we paddled back to our rendezvous point, went to lunch, and then spent the afternoon hiking through coastal lava fields and ended up at a giant bluff where we watched sea turtles feed on algae. We saw swallow tail, seagulls and blue footed boobies as well. We saw iguanas sunning themselves and even an iguana skeleton. Finding a beach we snorkeled again, knowing that the previous group were able to get close-up views of sea turtles underwater. - By Craig Suttie
