Juniors Tanner Moulton and Peyton Sargent, and freshman Maliky Bates, under the direction of Coach Eric Moulton, finished first at the championship event on Saturday, Sept. 30 on Lake Spofford in Chesterfield.

Moulton, Sargent, and Bates combined to catch eight bass for 22.24 pounds, nearly nine pounds more than the second-place finisher Milford at 13.55 pounds.

The trio had set a tournament record in the qualifying round on Lake Winnipesaukee in Center Harbor, recording eight fish for 25.53 pounds.

This year’s championship follows back-to-back third-place state finishes.

“Mascoma has one of the smallest teams in the state each year, yet continues to perform at a high level each year,” Superintendent Isabelle said. “Congratulations to Tanner, Peyton, Maliky, and Coach Moulton for an outstanding performance and a great achievement.”
